A Word From the Chairman
Karine Beaudoin - Chairman

Being Accountable!
In the last issue of the Liaison magazine, the title of my editorial was A Year of Solidarity and it must be admitted that, with the exceptionally active start to this year, this revelatory title is taking on its full meaning.
In February, 19 qualified and dedicated brokers, who act as volunteer members on the Board of Directors of the Regroupement des cabinets de courtage d’assurance du Québec (RCCAQ) to help develop the profession, had the courage to take their responsibilities in hand. They unanimously decided to put an end to the development of the RCCAQ Centrale. The report on the Centrale on p. 44, demonstrates that your regional representatives acted with full knowledge and in the sole interest of the members. I salute their courage and thank them.
I would also like to thank all the brokers in Quebec who continue to have confidence in us. By returning to our primary mission, which is to defend the interests of our member firms in exercising their duties, promoting the distinct character of the profession and promoting unity between the partners, the RCCAQ is committed to coming closer to its members and being attentive to their needs.
Important files are still on the table, such as training, tomorrow’s workforce, distribution without a representative, and advertising. During the next few months, you will gradually learn the result of our sustained efforts; efforts that will confirm the wisdom of remaining united within your association.
This year, the RCCAQ is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Over time, the association has adapted to change; it has also experienced many successes and, of course, a few defeats. Proud to represent the interests of firms and brokers throughout Quebec, the RCCAQ has always been steadfast. As we await the decision of the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) concerning distribution without a representative and by virtue of the many issues on which we are focussing, I call on your solidarity. More than ever, the Regroupement must remain strong and united. To all, a happy 35th anniversary and many more to come!
