Auto dealerships: whistleblower procedure is still in effect

posted on February 14, 2019

The RCCAQ continues to receive reports from its broker members concerning the illegal practices of certain auto dealerships.

Against that backdrop, the RCCAQ would like to remind you of the procedure for assisting clients who would like to file a complaint.

The procedure is described below. Please be aware that the AMF processes these reports on a strictly confidential basis.

1) Either the client files the complaint and fills out the AMF complaint form; or

2) You fill out the AMF form on your client's behalf; in that case, be sure to include the form authorizing the AMF to contact the client.

To make the process as efficient as possible, please remember that part 3 of the AMF form should include the following details, which are essential to the investigation:

  • The date of the events in question (even the approximate date).
  • The name of the insurance product.
  • The name of the insurer.
  • The type of insurance.

As part of its investigation, the AMF may contact you for further information. Therefore, it is important to obtain your client's prior authorization before communicating any of his or her personal information.

The forms should be sent to the AMF:

a) Via email

Send the form to denonciation@lautorite.qc.ca

b) Via regular mail

P.O. Box 593

800 Square Victoria, Montreal, Quebec H4Z 1J8
