Digital transition: a government grant is available for your firm

posted on April 20, 2022

With the evolution and emergence of new technologies, many companies can no longer do business in the same way.

Mindful of this new reality, the Canadian government is earmarking $4 billion from its 2021 budget for the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). The goal is to support small and medium-sized enterprises so they can carry out their digital transition properly and enhance the business technologies they are already using.

CDAP is providing financial support and guidance to Canadian companies seeking to adopt digital technology. In addition to the grant, a pool of digital advisors will be available to help companies map out their digital strategies aimed at boosting competitiveness and reaching their business goals.

To determine the grant that best meets your firm’s needs, you are required to answer various questions directly on the Government of Canada’s website.

Once your firm has been declared eligible, a portion of the allocated funds may be used to cover the service charges for the digital advisor who helps you put together your custom-tailored digital adoption plan. The grant can also cover up to 90% of the costs associated with hiring a digital expert (up to a maximum of $15,000).

Your firm can also obtain a no-interest loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) for expenses relating to the acquisition of new technologies.

For further information on the eligibility criteria and to submit a grant application, please go to the dedicated CDAP page.
