RCCAQ in action > Tax harmonization: a potentially costly issue!
By Vincent Gaudreau, CIB, FCIP, CRM, insurance broker and RCCAQ chair
$40 million dollars: that is the financial gain we achieved for our member firms through our lobbying efforts. However, the battle is not over yet! We still need your help to move forward with this issue, which could end up costing your firm a lot of money.
Highlights
•A temporary tax credit was obtained in 2013. This resulted in a savings of $40 million (over three years) for the brokerage network.
•This temporary credit will expire in 2016.
Our position
•The expiration of the credit will harm brokerage firms.
•The credit should be permanent because brokerage firms are not financial institutions; they are small and medium-sized enterprises.
Action to be taken
•We will lobby the Quebec finance ministry thanks to the mobilization and influence of our entire membership.
