Accurate identification of needs and effective representation

At our request, the firm Ad Hoc Research conducted a qualitative survey of some RCCAQ members in early fall aimed at classifying the main issues you are dealing with and the initiatives you would like the RCCAQ to undertake on your behalf. The results are very interesting. I would like to share the main findings with those of you who were unable to attend the convention. The main goals were to identify your key issues and evaluate the RCCAQ's efforts.

Issues in order of importance

The RCCAQ members surveyed were asked to rank certain issues in order of importance.

Issues of high importance

  • Bill 188 (including online sales/auto dealership sales)
  • The growing influence of direct insurers and the 20% rule

Issues of medium importance

  • Supplementary compensation programs
  • Tax harmonization
  • Comparison sites and data aggregators

Excellent understanding of the RCCAQ's mandate

The survey respondents painted a largely positive picture and often described the RCCAQ as "fearless".

The respondents generally showed an excellent understanding of the RCCAQ's mandate and some of them spontaneously mentioned various aspects of our mission statement. First and foremost, the RCCAQ is recognized as a professional association that seeks primarily to represent its members in dealings with government bodies and to assert their rights.

For some members, the RCCAQ's role is much broader, touching on three additional areas:

  • Promoting the brokerage sector among consumers and government bodies.
  • Assisting and advising member firms.
  • Developing tools and training activities aimed at supporting firms' business activities.

In my view and as far as the RCCAQ's Board and permanent staff are concerned, this exercise confirms that we're on the right track when it comes to tackling issues of mutual interest and delivering services. But to ensure that we are representing you as effectively as we can, we will be conducting a tour of Quebec to find out more about your regional concerns. We look forward to seeing you then!
