RCCAQ in action > Amendments to Bill 188 will be announced in the fall
Quebec's finance minister, Carlos Leitão, announced last week that he expects that amendments to the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (Bill 188) will be announced in the fall.
It appears that the minister is hoping to make a series of changes to laws affecting the financial sector and that those changes will be presented as part of an omnibus bill. The amendments to Bill 188 will be included in the omnibus bill.
Against that backdrop, we will pursue our initiatives aimed at promoting the positions of our member firms and brokers. However, the timeframe will be adjusted to take into account the fact that the amendments will be tabled in the fall. So let's keep on working together!
Reception on May 25: your presence is crucial!
Our upcoming reception in Quebec City (May 25 at 6:00 pm) is all the more relevant following the finance minister's announcement. Since the legislative timeframe has been extended, our discussions at the reception may well be heard loud and clear. That's why it is important that we be present in large numbers to explain to our MNAs why we are concerned about consumer protection in light of the proposed changes.
Address reminder: 6:00 pm, May 25, Villeray Room, Quebec City Hilton (1100 René Lévesque East, Quebec City).
