Auto dealerships: reporting procedure reminder

posted on July 27, 2018

Following the June 26 publication of an AMF notice designed to tighten the requirements for auto dealerships and insurers, the RCCAQ would like to remind brokers about the procedure to follow for clients wishing to file a complaint.

The procedure is described below. Please note that reports will be handled by the AMF in the strictest confidentiality.

Either the client should file a complaint and fill out the AMF complaint form by himself/herself, or the broker should fill out the AMF form on the client's behalf and should also include the form authorizing the AMF to recontact the client.

To make the process as efficient as possible, please note that Part 2 of the AMF form should include the following details, which are essential for carrying out its investigation:

  • The date of the events in question (even approximate).
  • The name of the insurance product in question.
  • The name of the insurer in question.
  • The type of insurance.

As part of its investigation, the AMF might contact you seeking additional information. It is thus important to obtain your client's prior authorization to transmit his/her personal information.

The forms should be sent by regular mail to the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) at the following address:

Place de la Cité, Cominar Tower, 2640 Laurier Blvd., Suite 300, Quebec City, Quebec G1V 5C1
