Bill 150 review is completed, RCCAQ continues its lobbying efforts

posted on May 17, 2018

The public finance committee's detailed review of Bill 150 was completed last Tuesday and Wednesday [May 15-16]. However, the sections concerning brokerage firms were withdrawn, thus limiting the review to various measures pertaining to the 2016 and 2017 provincial budgets.

Today, the committee turned its attention to Bill 141, which is now the only piece of legislation under review containing provisions on insurance product distribution. It is still too early to know whether the issues addressed in Bill 150 will be taken up again in Bill 141. Consequently, the RCCAQ will continue its lobbying efforts in this regard with a view to better defending your interests.

Earlier this week, RCCAQ vice-president Patrice Pouliot attended a luncheon conference organized by the Saint Georges Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Beauce Economic Council (CEB). Taking advantage of the presence of Quebec's finance minister, Carlos J. Leitão, Mr. Pouliot raised issues of concern to insurance brokers, including the draft legislation under consideration.
