Client communications: insurer makes changes

posted on August 17, 2017

Intact Insurance recently announced that it had revised part of the content of the template letters used by brokers to communicate with clients when issuing, renewing or transferring policies. The RCCAQ contacted the insurer and shared your concerns and questions in this regard. After discussing these issues with us (as well as with various brokers), Intact made a number of changes that were communicated to brokers in late July. Here are two clarifications:

Hard-copy information

In the future, specific conditions will be included in the abridged hard-copy (paper) format. In a few weeks, policyholders will see this information included in their documentation.

Form of address

A change of tone in the salutation formula gave rise to a number of comments. The insurer decided that policyholders' first names would no longer be used in the salutation in the policy summary.

Working to safeguard your interests

We welcome the fact that the insurer is open to resolving issues raised by RCCAQ members. Our goal is to work jointly on solutions that will allow you to carry out your advisory role more effectively.

Needless to say, if you have any other concerns relating to your unique advisory role, please feel free to email us (communications@rccaq.com). We are always working to safeguard your interests.
