Electronic proof of auto insurance accepted soon?

posted on July 5, 2016

Last spring, the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators (CCIR) kicked off a consultation focusing on the introduction of electronic proof of auto insurance to replace paper certificates.

This consultation is part of the CCIR's 2014-2017 strategic plan. The CCIR's electronic commerce committee will be coordinating the rollout of electronic proof of automobile insurance (EPAI). The CCIR also issued a paper in this regard, which you can consult by clicking here.

Interested organizations had until June 30 to submit position papers in this regard. Meetings will be held with various stakeholder groups to discuss the project and to begin coordinating EPAI implementation efforts across Canada.
