Limitations on ownership rights: consultation

posted on April 19, 2017

The public consultation regarding limitations on ownership rights has been launched by the provincial government. The deadline for participation is June 23.

As indicated in our member updates since this topic came up earlier this year, the RCCAQ will be facilitating the discussions with a view to representing all of its members (brokers as well as managers) while ensuring that their voices are heard.

The issues raised will have a direct impact not only on brokerage firms (as the government reconsiders the rules governing various business models), but also on individual brokers (due to the potential review of the insurance representative designation). These issues lie at the very heart of the brokerage sector and how it defines itself.

Please watch out for our communications in this regard in the coming days. We will provide you with information on the steps involved in the consultation process and on how to share your views on these issues.
