RCCAQ in action > Parliament Hill Day: highly satisfactory results
Meetings with finance minister Carlos Leitão, as well as with various caucus members and influential MNAs in the financial field. Approximately 100 people attended our reception. Those were the highlights of our very productive day on Parliament Hill!
The RCCAQ is very satisfied with the meetings and discussions held on Parliament Hill Day. For the occasion, we were represented by a delegation consisting of RCCAQ board members and CEOs of brokerage firms of all sizes. They included Patrick Bouchard (RCCAQ chair), Ann Rake (RCCAQ chair elect), Jean Bilodeau (Bilodeau Couture Assurances), Mathieu Brunet (MP2B), Diane Fortin (Fortin Ouellet Assurances), Vincent Gaudreau (RCCAQ outgoing chair), Ted Harman (Accent Solutions d'Assurances), Guy Parent (RCCAQ general manager), Patrice Pouliot (Assurances Pouliot & Associés), André Roy (PMT Roy) and Danielle Savoie (Savoie Assurances).
Meetings were also held with the Liberal Party, Parti Québécois and CAQ caucuses. We had some very interesting discussions with the PQ's finance spokesman, Nicolas Marceau, as well as with André Fortin, parliamentary assistant to the finance minister. We also had some very relevant discussions with representatives of the government departments involved in fields related to the RCCAQ's activities.
Needless to say, during the meetings, we raised the matter of the proposed amendments to Bill 188. But we also discussed other topics and noted an openness towards our proposals, particularly on the following issues:
We will be continuing our efforts on all these fronts in the coming months.
Meeting with Carlos Leitão
There is no doubt that the highlight of the day was our meeting with finance minister Carlos Leitão, who despite a hectic schedule, made a point of greeting our delegation and chatting with us for a few minutes. He assured us that he was aware of the RCCAQ's concerns about the proposed amendments to Bill 188. We hope to meet with him at the end of the summer.
A well-attended cocktail reception—thank you!
Our cocktail reception was also a great success, with nearly 100 people in attendance! A huge thanks to all the brokers who traveled to Quebec City for the event. We showed that we are united and determined to defend consumers and our profession. We appreciate your commitment to the RCCAQ's cause. Working together, we are well placed for tomorrow's battles!
