The provincial election campaign is now at the halfway point. Despite various predictions, we will not know the make-up of Quebec's National Assembly until late in the evening on October 1.

What we do know, however, is that an election campaign is a great time to get (or stay) in touch with candidates, regardless of party affiliation. It's an opportunity to talk to them about the brokerage industry, your firm and the concerns that affect you most directly in your region.

In recent years, we've seen how important it is to forge strong links with elected officials. Indeed, these ties serve to support the RCCAQ's initiatives aimed at defending your interests.

Even though the adoption of Bill 141 gave our industry a brand new legislative framework and our work is now focused on the regulatory process, it is essential that we continue our discussions with elected officials. They are key contacts when it comes to making our issues and concerns heard.

So why not request a meeting with your MNA or the other candidates? If you do, please let us know how things go.

 - Take part in the electoral process on October 1:
    - Donate money to a party or candidate in accordance with Quebec's election rules.

    - Attend an event at which candidates will be present.
    - Discuss issues with candidates who might come knocking on your door and talk to them about your profession or your firm.
