RCCAQ in action > RCCAQ convention: an opportunity to talk politics
By Typhaine Letertre, Director, Communications and Public Affairs

The countdown has begun for the RCCAQ's 45th annual convention, which, as you are aware, will be held on November 7-8 at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal.
Illustrious guests, inspirational seminars focusing on entrepreneurship, networking activities, new encounters and pleasant reunions: it's all on the menu!
Above and beyond the official theme adopted for this 45th edition of the RCCAQ's annual convention, political and legislative developments are sure to crop up over the two-day event, particularly given the swearing-in of a brand new provincial government and many new MNAs, not to mention the recent adoption of Bill 141 and the AMF's release of the Draft regulation respecting alternative distribution methods.
We see our annual meeting as a forum to discuss these issues with you and various activities have been planned with that in mind.
Information on new MNAs
The recent swearing-in of Quebec's new government is obviously an opportunity to restate our messages and promote key issues in discussions with our new MNAs.
Our strategy is in place, but we need you to maximize its effectiveness. As brokers, you are already very involved in your respective regions and communities. Therefore, you may already know some of the recently elected MNAs and may be familiar with their background and ambitions. This valuable information will enable us to represent you effectively and to undertake targeted initiatives as we seek to promote and defend your interests.
You are invited to stop by the RCCAQ's booth from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7. We'd love to hear what you have to say!
When you stop by, we'll also give you a copy of a short document for RCCAQ members that covers the best practices to follow when meeting with your MNA.
An AMF representative will be visiting the RCCAQ's booth
The consultation period for the AMF's Draft regulation respecting alternative distribution methods began recently and will run until December 10. The RCCAQ plans to submit a position paper to ensure that insurance brokers' voices are heard in this regard.
Working closely with the AMF, we have scheduled an activity during the convention in which you can provide your feedback on the draft regulation.
Please note that Mylène Sabourin, the AMF's director of distribution practices and self-regulatory organizations and Mélissa Perreault, Policy Analyst, will be attending the convention and will be available from 2:00-2:45 PM at the RCCAQ's booth to meet with you and discuss the draft regulation.
This will be a great opportunity to engage in discussion and share your concerns with the AMF on an issue that affects you directly.
See you at the convention!
