Regulatory process after Bill 141: the RCCAQ intends to play an active role

posted on October 31, 2018

Following the legislative review, the RCCAQ's involvement in the regulatory process is essential and the participation of our members is a great help in this regard!

Online insurance sales

Prior to the publication of the draft regulation concerning online insurance sales, the RCCAQ announced the creation of an advisory committee of its members. The committee met for the very first time on November 1 at the RCCAQ's offices. Thank you to all of our members who expressed an interest!

Chaired by Christopher Johnson and made up of 8 brokers from firms of various sizes and various regions, the committee is tasked with gathering RCCAQ members' views on the Draft regulation respecting alternative distribution methods issued by the AMF on October 10.*

Based on members' feedback and concerns, the RCCAQ will consider the matter further and will put together an official position that will be submitted to the AMF by December 10.

Provisions for brokerage firms

Among the provisions included in Bill 141, those specifically concerning brokerage firms will also be subject to the regulatory process before coming into effect in December 2019.

Some of you have already shared questions or concerns in this regard. Rest assured that the RCCAQ will be working closely with the AMF to ensure that all regulations are applied in line with the realities faced by brokerage firms.

Once again, we will need you to get involved in order to be as effective as possible on this issue. We will keep you updated on the processes that will be put in place, so you can take part in the various deliberations.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please send us an email (tletertre@rccaq.com).
