Dear RCCAQ members and partners:

As our digital convention winds down, I’d like to cap things off by inviting you to attend a mixology activity beginning on Thursday, December 10 at 4:00 PM, hosted by Alexis Taoufiq, a well-known mixologist and cocktail creator. This pre-recorded activity (consisting of two video clips on the Swapcard platform) will be available for viewing throughout the Holiday Season.

Mr. Taoufiq will be exploring a series of recipes dedicated to the RCCAQ’s online convention-goers. He will also be featuring ingredients from local providers—after all, brokers know better than anyone else how important it is to support Quebec entrepreneurs!

I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to all brokers and partners who took part in the RCCAQ’s very first virtual convention, in particular our major partner Northbridge, which has lent us its support over the past seven years.

We have all been forced to adapt to our new circumstances, and many of you decided to sign up for our redesigned convention format. Over the past three months, a range of virtual content has been featured on a brand-new networking-oriented platform:

  • Seminars on topics of current interest.
  • Training activities giving you the tools you need.
  • Humorous moments and useful information for your day-to-day activities.
  • Joint initiatives with the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages (CHAD) and Quebec’s financial regulator (AMF) aimed at facilitating compliance.
  • An insurers panel focusing on the outlook for the year to come.
  • A trade show bringing together industry professionals.
  • And lots more!

I’m very pleased that you were able to attend the RCCAQ’s convention this fall. Please note that most of the content is still available in playback mode.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to point out that technology has played a key role by enabling us to stay in touch while paving the way for a high-quality experience. The fact remains, however, that videoconferences will never replace the connections we make when we meet in person. That said, technology will no doubt continue to play a central role in our discussions and within all organizations.

As noted on many occasions during the convention, technology will be one of the RCCAQ’s top priorities in the coming year. Our chatbot, an artificial intelligence tool aimed at boosting brokers’ operating efficiency, is a prime example. Various firms have already embarked on this new adventure, including Savoie Assurances, to which I would like to pay tribute as our “pilot brokerage”. This is proof that innovative projects are of pivotal importance to the brokerage sector.

Additional challenges are sure to arise, not only in terms of technology, but also in our dealings with the authorities and in the initiatives we undertake with our stakeholders aimed at supporting you in the current economic context. We will also be bringing you an array of training activities designed to give brokers the tools they need while boosting performance. In short, everything that keeps the RCCAQ team committed to representing you and supporting you in your day-to-day activities!

2020 is not over yet, but there’s no doubt that it will leave its mark on all of us. Over the next few weeks, I hope we’ll all have a few opportunities to enjoy the festivities within our respective “social bubbles”.

Let’s use the Holiday Season to celebrate our hard work and the solidarity we show each other.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Éric Manseau, Executive Director, RCCAQ
