Last June, the RCCAQ announced a new partnership with the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages (CHAD). To protect insurance professionals and their clients, both organizations decided to join forces in a bid to tackle cybercrime.

To guard against cyberattacks, a series of seven video training clips was announced, ranging in length from 15 to 30 minutes and dealing with telework, cloud computing technology, identity theft, data protection, social networks, the clean office principle and phishing. The clips on telework and cloud computing were placed on line first. The third and fourth clips, which may be viewed at any time (“asynchronous learning”), are now open for registration.

Each clip is worth various PDUs in the area of administration. Together, they make up an essential training resource!

Identity theft

The ''Identity theft'' clip is divided into four modules: social engineering, ransomware, business email fraud and identity theft. Various practical situations are covered so participants will develop good reflexes when faced with fraudulent behaviour.

Participants will also gain insight into how identity theft affects victims and businesses, discover the most frequently used methods by identity thieves and learn more about the details of a classic identity theft attack, i.e. how to avoid it.

Phishing

Nowadays, we all need to understand phishing and recognize how this phenomenon threatens information security. This new training clip covers various techniques associated with this 21st century plague: voice phishing (or vishing), as well as phishing using email, websites and text messages.

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to recognize and identify the characteristics of phishing messages and websites; they will also have more tools in their kit to detect and deal with telephone-based fraud. Needless to say, knowing how to protect personal data and IT systems has become a key asset in the business world.

Seasoned professionals

Whether you manage your own company or are a certified broker working for a firm, everyone stands to benefit from these cybersecurity training clips stemming from the RCCAQ/CHAD partnership. These short interactive videos, including various animated scenarios, are designed to better equip participants and to give them insight into the importance of cybersecurity. They are available in both English and French.
