The insurance broker profession is definitely not widely known. However, a study (summer 2020) conducted by the Coalition pour une relève en assurance de dommages and focusing on staffing needs in Québec’s damage insurance industry (French link) shows that over a three-year period (2020-2023), some 2,600 jobs will need to be filled in brokerages across the province. That’s quite a few!
With a view to informing students, particularly at CÉGEPs, and guiding them towards a top-ranked profession offering higher-than-average income and an outstanding placement rate, the RCCAQ, via its Training division, is offering the activity “Your professional association at the heart of the ecosystem“ (French only).
Presented by the RCCAQ’s business development director, Bertrand Rouault, to CÉGEP students, this training session is available at any time.
Learning goals
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to identify the key sector stakeholders, including the regulator, industry organizations, etc. They will also gain fresh insight into their respective roles, missions and areas of jurisdiction.
Participants will learn about the following groups and associations:
- Autorité des marches financiers (AMF)
- Chambre de l'assurance de dommages (ChAD)
- Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC)
- Groupement des assureurs automobiles (GAA)
- Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC)
- Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO)
Information will be provided on the major brokerage banners and brokerage insurers. Needless to say, lying at the heart of the insurance industry is the RCCAQ, the only organization in Québec seeking to promote and defend brokerage firms’ socioeconomic interests, in addition to supporting their development.
