Over the past year, all activities, whether web-based or in-house training, were delivered via Zoom. Brokers responded in kind and adapted to the new reality.
Cybersecurity: highest priority for certified representatives
Activities touching on cybersecurity were the most popular among brokers over the past year. A number of dates were added to our calendar to meet the demand.
The course on information security awareness was also a resounding success. This activity, offered in partnership with the Chamber of Damage Insurance (ChAD), consists of 12 capsules. Certified representatives specializing in damage insurance (P&C) had (and still have) an opportunity to familiarize themselves with best practices in the area of high-tech security. Interested persons can sign up for this course, even during the summer; it is available in individual or folio formats.
Human resources workshop
A new training activity was very successful over the past year: "Hiring interviews from the candidates' perspective", offered in association with the team from HR consulting firm Soluflex. Participants received 2 PDUs (administration). This course was developed to address labour shortage issues facing brokerage firms, with the main goal of providing RCCAQ members with practical support and brokerage managers with useful tools. The RCCAQ Training team will develop other activities to deal with these issues.
Broker 101-102
Participants from brokerage firms signed up in large numbers for Broker 101-102. This preparatory training course gives prospective brokers a chance to broaden their knowledge prior to obtaining their AMF permit. Registration targets were exceeded for the period from July 2020 to June 2021!
The participants greatly appreciated the flexibility associated with playback mode, as well as the training quality and the coaches. The completion rate over the past year held steady at more than 90%.
Events for the coming year
We are in the process of developing our web calendar for 2021-2022. Given that December 31, 2021 marks the end of the current compliance period, various dates will be added in the fall to meet certified representatives' training needs and expectations. Please keep an eye out for our communications so you don't miss any of the upcoming dates. And don't forget that RCCAQ members qualify for special rates when they register for training!
Our web-based activities will be even more prominent this year. This means that brokers will have even more opportunities to save time while cutting back on their travel expenses!
Other training activities will focus on human resources and compliance in the coming year.
Summer is also the ideal time for firms to plan employee training, particularly in-house activities. Please note that most of our courses are available online.
