Training, management & co > Reflecting on new insurance skills
Changing consumer behaviour patterns and the rise of new technologies, in particular, are revolutionizing the role played by insurance professionals. Against that backdrop, the Quebec Coalition pour la promotion des professions en assurance de dommages and Finance Montreal commissioned a study by Aviseo Conseil on changes affecting the workforce and needed skills.
Drawing on the study results, the Coalition brought together a group of some 40 insurance industry actors and education stakeholders to reflect on the research findings and to map out an action plan aimed at aligning the training offer with the demand for qualified workers.
As a professional association representing brokerage firms and as a Coalition board member, the RCCAQ is closely following workforce issues facing the brokerage sector and is hoping to play a key role in this regard. Last year, the RCCAQ took part in the work initiated by IBAC involving changes to brokers' skill profiles; we are now seeking to be an active player in deliberations on the future of the profession and the required training offer.
