The Coalition will help to train 240 professionals!

affiché le 27 septembre 2022

A few days ago, the Coalition pour une relève en assurance de dommages made an important announcement! Thanks to Québec’s Department of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity (MTESS) and the CPMT’s development and skills recognition fund, the Coalition has obtained a major grant as a “collective promoter” (a group of employers or workers overseeing or carrying out employment-related projects).

As a result, the Coalition can now roll out the Certificate of Collegial Studies in-house work/study program (Parcours travail-études AEC en entreprise) to train 240 insurance students. In addition, the Coalition will be paying a wage subsidy of $25/hour for the training time; each student can receive a total subsidy of up to $21,750. Eligible candidates include people already working in the insurance field, as well as newcomers to the industry.

As you may know, back in 2021 the Coalition launched a pilot project for an in-house version of the damage insurance AEC program involving 3 CÉGEPs, 27 students and 7 Coalition members, representing the four types of industry enterprises: brokerages, claims firms, direct insurers and broker-based insurers. Once the cohort had graduated, the organizers took stock of the situation and decided to pursue the project from a perspective of continuous improvement and on a larger scale.

An ambitious project!

The new work/study program is certainly ambitious: the plan is to train 240 students from around Québec, in association with four CÉGEPs: Lévis, Édouard-Montpetit (Longueuil), Outaouais and Drummondville.

This means the Coalition will be making the industry more attractive for the next generation: candidates will be able to work for an employer, acquire experience and get paid while studying towards their damage insurance certificate. The Coalition, which has been working for the past 20 years to promote the industry, is committed to carrying out its leadership role in this regard.

Recruitment drive!

Please note that the recruitment drive for brokerage firms, etc. will begin this fall! To participate, please send an email expressing your interest to: info@lacoalition.ca.
