Last July, the RCCAQ provided its members with a revised version of the broker/client contract, which was developed with the assistance of our legal team. The contract includes the new measures set out in Bill 141 and Bill C-28, which means you have access to a document that is custom-tailored to the new legislative framework. Please keep in mind that the broker/client contract is a useful tool that protects brokers and clients within their business relationship. Be sure to put it to good use!

The RCCAQ also offers guidance to all broker members with specific questions on how to use the contract. In this regard, please contact Richard Giroux at rgiroux@rccaq.com. If you would like to use the contract as part of your IT processes, electronic signatures are straightforward and accessible. On its website, the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has posted a study comparing the main suppliers of this type of service. Here are some of the benefits:

Benefits for brokers

  • Initiate and end the sales cycle quickly and efficiently.
  • Greater loyalty and improved client experience.
  • Fewer errors and less phone follow-up.
  • Paperless workflows are more efficient.
  • Digital validation and audit trails protect you from legal issues.
  • Forgery-proof documents.
  • Improved competitive position.

Benefits for clients

  • Enhanced experience/user-friendly.
  • Simplified signing method (wherever/whenever).
  • No more printing/signing/scanning process.

The CSIO: an ally in your switch to digital

Over the past 30 years, the CSIO has sought to improve brokers' efficiency and competitiveness by offering technological solutions such as e-signature. These initiatives are designed primarily to meet consumers' growing digital expectations. "Digital tools and, broadly speaking, strategies for managing digital relationships, can improve interactions with clients at all levels. With that in mind, we suggest that firms take concrete steps to adapt to new consumer behaviours," said Bertrand Rouault, business development and training director for the RCCAQ.
