IBAC Request to Brokers for Campaign Footage for the Century Story

posted on 10:59 AM, July 24, 2020

In 1921, a number of small insurance broker associations across Canada joined forces to create a national group dedicated to the best interests of consumers, and the brokers who serve them. 100 years later, the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) represents over 38,000 insurance brokers who continue to thrive by putting the client first.

It’s an impressive milestone, and we want to use this opportunity to highlight the many benefits that brokers provide to their clients. We plan to launch a digital campaign in the fall of 2020 and then a TV commercial in 2021. But we need your help. We need real brokers to be part of the story. Brokers like you!

So, we’re asking for any old photographs or video footage that you might have of your business from past years and decades. Maybe it’s a picture of the grand opening of your office, or of your brokers at work in the office (typewriters and fax machines, anyone?)

Maybe you have a shot of someone visiting a client’s home or business; or just being out in the community as a part of things – at a picnic or as a sponsor of a local sports team. Anything that shows what it looked like to be doing business as a broker over time.

It could be an old sepia picture from generations ago, super-8 footage from the 70’s, video from the 90’s or 2000’s. Don’t worry about the quality – we’ll be using editing and production techniques to make you look great.

But it isn’t just about looking back. This campaign, which we’re calling Century Story, is also about looking ahead to our next 100 years. Because the very values that you have built your business on – trust, expertise, choice and innovation – are the very things that will put brokers in such good position looking forward. And we hope you agree, that is something worth celebrating.

Here's where to submit your photos/videos before August 31th 2020 : Al Scornaienchi at Agency59 at ascornaienchi@agency59.ca

Photos: If you already have your photos scanned, please email them to Al. If you don’t have the photos scanned, simply take a photo of the photo(s) using your cell phone – and email those. Feel free to send jpegs, or png, or PDF – whatever is easier for you. Then, if Agency59 selects a particular photo, we will contact you to arrange how to get the photo in higher quality (if necessary).

Videos: If you have any video footage, DO NOT EMAIL THEM, simply email a note to Al and he will arrange a time/date to phone you. Then Agency59 can determine the best way to get a copy of your footage. If you have super-8, VHS, or Betamax, Agency59 can help find a local supplier to digitize the footage. If you already have it digitized (MP4, avi, Mov), we can provide a weblink where you can upload the footage, or via Dropbox.

If you have any questions, feel free to email Al as well.
