Potential Canada Post strike

affiché le 29 juin 2016

The threat of a strike or lockout is hanging over Canada Post. Delivery services could come to a halt on July 2.

The parties continue to negotiate, while the 6,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers will have until June 28 to vote on a new agreement.

Canada Post has confirmed that it is putting contingency plans in place to ensure that priority items, such as Old Age Security, Canada Pension and Family Allowance cheques, are sent out to recipients without disruption.

Similarly, insurers are also planning for a potential mail service shutdown.

It is important that you take steps to ensure that you have alternative processes in place for your essential mail. Increasingly, our operations are carried out electronically, although regular mail is still a widely used means of communication. Please prepare yourselves accordingly in case mail delivery is interrupted.
