Training, management & co > Are you familiar with IBC's new forms?
By Nathalie Munik, Trainer
Are you aware of the changes to the home insurance forms issued by the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) and currently in effect? Would you feel comfortable discussing these changes with your clients? It is important to fully grasp the scope of these changes in order to advise policyholders and avoid negative surprises.
Our training session on IBC's new procedures is specifically designed to guide you and bring you up to speed. That way, you'll be able to provide your clients with sound advice.
Mother Nature seems to be increasingly fickle. The frequent floods we've been hearing about are among the exclusions set out in personal home insurance policies. But can we offer our clients at least some form of protection?
People's lifestyles also seem to be changing. Perhaps your policyholders have begun renting out a room on a short-term basis (e.g. Airbnb)? Do they own any valuable cycling equipment? Perhaps they've decided to take up recycling or composting? If so, what are the impacts on their coverage? And if the insurer's wording doesn't yet reflect the IBC's latest update, which terms and conditions would apply in the event of a claim, the insurer's or the IBC's?
The IBC is seeking to take policyholders' day-to-day lifestyle changes into account. That's why it recently made changes to home insurance policies.
The training session on the IBC's new home insurance forms is designed to identify these changes and clearly explain their scope. Would you like to find out more? Be sure to attend our training session!
