Remuneration survey

posted on January 18, 2018

In late January, the RCCAQ will be launching a survey concerning remuneration at insurance brokerage firms. To this end, we have commissioned Ad Hoc Research, a survey firm recognized for guaranteeing the confidentiality of the responses and the relevance of the results.

"Thanks to the survey results, brokerage owners and HR managers will be able to improve their market positioning. They will also be able to adopt remuneration practices that are more likely to benefit their employees and their organization," said Christopher Johnson, RCCAQ chair. Catherine Rioux, interim executive director, noted that "this exclusive information will bring value added to our member service offer".

What content will be included?

The detailed survey report will include the following:

- Average and median total remuneration for brokers (personal and commercial insurance), first-level managers/supervisors and technical assistants.
o Average salary
o Average commission
o Average performance bonus
o Average number of hours worked
o Region
o Brokerage size
o Years of experience
o Benefits
o Vacation time

- General profile of Quebec brokerage firms
- Distinctions depending on type of position

During the survey, what steps will be taken to protect the data being collected?

A strict information protection policy specific to the professional practices of the firm commissioned to carry out the survey will ensure that the confidentiality of your data will be maintained at all times.

Is there any guarantee that the results will be representative?

"To obtain complete results, a large number of RCCAQ members will have to take the time to fill out the questionnaire. Please help us put together a key reference tool by completing the Ad Hoc Research survey," said Mr. Johnson.

When and how will the results be available?

The data collection process will begin in late January and the results will be available in March 2018. Only RCCAQ members who complete the questionnaire will have access to the full-length document containing the most complete and most detailed survey information. This document will be available in the members-only section of the RCCAQ's website. A short one-page summary will be provided to all RCCAQ members.
