Cybersecurity: the RCCAQ and CHAD join forces!

posted on 9:46 AM, June 22, 2022

It’s official! The RCCAQ and the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages (ChAD) entered into a new cybersecurity partnership back in May 2022.

Clearly, the evolution of technology and its increased use in society in general, as well as within the insurance industry, have created fertile ground for growing numbers of cyberattacks, which have impacted many businesses. The insurance sector has not been immune from these attacks.

In line with their respective missions, in order to mitigate the destructive impacts of cybercrime and to protect insurance professionals and their clients, ChAD and the RCCAQ decided to join forces to address this issue. Both organizations have developed a brand-new series of videos dealing with cybersecurity.

Made up of seven videos running from 15 to 30 minutes each, this training series has three main objectives:

  • To educate industry professionals (employees and managers) about risks surrounding technology use.
  • To help professionals develop safe reflexes.
  • To encourage industry professionals to use high-performance tools aimed at considerably reducing the risk of falling victim to a cyberattack.

Through these short interactive videos and the scenarios they present, participants will gain a better understanding of cybersecurity’s importance and will be better equipped to navigate the pitfalls associated with:

  • Teleworking.
  • Cloud computing technology.
  • Identity theft.
  • Data protection.
  • Social networks.
  • Clean desk policy.
  • Phishing attempts.

Upon completing these training activities, participants will have acquired day-to-day best practices in the area of IT security, thus significantly reducing risks associated with fraud, phishing and cyberattacks involving their firms.

Please note that each video is available in English and French. Participants will be awarded PDUs in the area of business administration. In the coming weeks, the videos will be gradually uploaded to the EduChAD platform.

Please also note that the first video, entitled “Remote work and data security (AF1034-EN), is now available online at a cost of $18. It is also accessible as a folio package (french only). This clip provides useful information on strategies aimed at reducing risks associated with telework, use of mobile devices and the “take your personal devices” trend.

Stay tuned and don’t miss out!
