Dear RCCAQ members:
Our team is already hard at work planning the RCCAQ's annual convention, which will be held in Montreal on November 23-24 under the theme of “The Client Experience: A Guarantee of Our Success.” We will ensure that the 2016 edition is a vibrant and colourful! We also hope that it will prompt people to reflect on how we as an industry see ourselves in the future.
The client experience: a guarantee of our success |
Our clients are the main reason we're here. Therefore, they should be at the very centre of our business strategies, which should be designed to spotlight the role played by insurance brokers: we provide value-added services to consumers with a view to protecting and preserving their assets.
As in various other fields, the insurance sector is being affected by new patterns of consumer behaviour. Consumers in turn are influenced by a never-ending wave of technological developments, which mean that they are better informed than ever before; they also have greater autonomy in carrying out transactions. The market is also changing significantly in human terms: the up-and-coming generations, for example, have a different set of expectations.
Against that backdrop, a number of brokerage firms have embraced a strategic shift. But in which direction? Should we all pin our hopes on technology? I don't think so. Brokers' fundamental value lies in their advisory role and personalized approach. You don't have to be an expert to find the cheapest insurance policy. But you do have to know something about insurance in order to recommend the best product and to determine the specific rider your client might need.
The RCCAQ's annual convention is a "must" for all those who care about the changes affecting our industry and the future success of brokerage firms. During this two-day event, you'll learn all about industry trends and consumers' expectations in the 21st century. You'll also have a chance to share insights on best business practices aimed at ensuring that our current and future clients have a one-of-a-kind experience.
I hope to see you at the convention in large numbers! |
Although the convention requires lots of work by the RCCAQ's permanent staff and board members, we will also be pursuing our efforts with respect to Bill 188. We have had additional discussions with stakeholders following our meeting with the Finance Minister's office; the process is still unfolding. We will be moving forward with various initiatives in the coming months with a view to continuing to raise the government's awareness of the issues surrounding the proposed amendments to Bill 188.
Thank you for your attention.
