Following the announcement of a cooperation agreement between Intact and Uber, the RCCAQ would like to remind consumers taking part in UberX services that, despite the solutions supposedly provided by this agreement, no insurance coverage is available for commercial transport undertaken by private individuals. Many questions remain unanswered, not only in terms of consumer protection, but also regarding brokers' professional liability (See article on UberX).
It is therefore essential that brokers continue to notify their UberX driver clients that insurance coverage is still not available in this area; they should also stay up to date on any information provided by insurers in this regard.
