Meetings were held with Quebec premier François Legault; the finance minister's chief of staff; the government digital transformation minister, Éric Caire; other influential members of the Legault government; as well as the official opposition leader, Pierre Arcand and other MNAs.
We were eagerly looking forward to the 2019-2020 provincial budget. The standout measures were those designed to make it easier for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to retain workers. Given the labour shortage in Quebec, particularly in non-urban regions, these initiatives are most welcome.
We also wanted to show the government that it is important to earmark budget funds to help SMEs make the switch to digital. We will continue to lobby government decision-makers in this regard.
Parliament Hill Day (May 15)
In closing, please be advised that the RCCAQ is the process of organizing Parliament Hill Day, which will be held on Wednesday, May 15 in Quebec City. More information on this event will be provided in the near future.
