The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) recently issued a press release in which it asked insurers with online service portals to ensure that IBAO-affiliated brokers remain the primary vehicle for electronic communications with consumers. The RCCAQ joins the other provincial associations in supporting the IBAO in this regard.
According to the IBAO, "creating multiple access points for a single consumer to obtain electronic communications, including e-documents, could be detrimental to the Ontario consumer".
With a view to supporting brokers' efforts, the IBAO also expects insurers to "develop consumer self-service solutions if they offer a similar broker-delivered solution prior to or at the same time".
